What this is
Birdsense listens while this page is open and offers a cautious reading: likely species, kind of call, and one English sentence. It is not a word-for-word translation, and it does not invent a cat, hawk, or other animal unless the evidence already contains that word.
The garden list is 22 common UK and Ireland birds. If the sound is not clear, the app says so.
We only name those 22. Anything else stays unnamed — no rarities, no guesses outside the garden list. A YouTube “robin” is often the American robin, which we do not name. The European robin is on the list.
On your phone
Add to Home Screen from the browser share menu. Listening needs this page on screen. Android Chrome may keep the microphone for a while if you leave the tab; iPhones usually pause when the phone locks or Safari is backgrounded. That is a phone limit, not something this page can override.
Photos and songs
Every picture and reference song is from Wikimedia Commons and is licensed for commercial reuse (Creative Commons Attribution, Attribution-ShareAlike, or public domain). We name the creator and the licence. Songs that were trimmed to about 12 seconds are still credited to the original recordist.
If a licence forbids commercial use or forbids changes, we do not use that file.
